Cure Catheter® Closed Systems are not made with DEHP, BPA or natural rubber latex. These sterile, single use, unisex systems feature polished eyelets on a straight, pre-lubricated catheter tip with integrated 1500 ml collection bag offered in singles and kit configurations. Kits include the Cure Catheter, a nonstaining BZK wipe, three Povidone-iodine swabsticks, one pair of ambidextrous gloves, a sterile wipe, and an underpad.

The closed system products are pre-lubricated, so no additional lubrication, water, or other preparation is needed. The closed system provides a simple and safe catheterization that reduces the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Closed system catheter kits are indicated for individuals with a history of urinary tract infections(UTI) while on a program of clean intermittent catheterization.  In other words, they are covered for individuals who experience urinary tract infections even when using a new catheter each time they catheterize.

They are often needed by pediatric catheter users who are catheterized by different individuals during the course of the day, and therefore at greater risk of developing a UTI than an adult who cath’s him or herself solely.  For example, a school aged child who is cath’d by a school nurse, parent, home health nurse, or other caregiver would be at greater risk of developing a UTI due to numerous individuals performing the catheterization procedure.

Sterile insetion supplies are covered by most insurance plans with a physician prescription; however, Medicare requires very specific medical documentation in order to qualify for sterile insertion supplies. The most common qualifying condition is a recent history of UTIs.  Guidelines for coverage of sterile insertion supplies vary among health insurance plans.  In order to determine if you qualify, we will verify insurance eligibility, coverage requirements and review your medical documentation, such as recent chart notes, urodynamic study, cytoscopy results, and urinalysis lab results.
